We welcome you to alumnac.com! The site was launched back in 2002 for two schools - Ishpeming HS and Westwood HS, has expanded to cover additional schools, and is now used by thousands of people to reconnect, post pictures, communicate information about school and city events, and for entertainment. Below are some tips on using the site. Enjoy!

Alumni Portion of the Site

The alumni portion of this site is organized by school and by graduating class. Each school, past and present has its own page and on these school pages are links to class pages for each graduating class. When you join as a member, your information is added to a database and your name is displayed on the page for your graduating class.

Everything on this site is available to everyone except email addresses. Personal information for each member is stored on a "Personal Page" and each member has their own page. After you join the site, you will receive an email with your user name and password. This information will enable you to send email messages to other members for FREE.

The center section on each class page contains an area for the class roster of all graduates from that class (regardless of whether they are members of the site). Most classes do not yet have a class roster on the site. If you are interested in providing your class roster, please click here for more information.

Also included on each class page is a link to any class reunion information as well as pictures that have been contributed. Often, class reunion pictures will be posted in this location. There are hundreds of pictures located on various class pages across the site.

Personal Information

Basic information for members is school, year of graduation, name at graduation, current name, and email address. Members may also optionally provide city/state of residence and birthdate. All this information (except email address) is presented on the member's individual personal page. Those who provide birthdate information will have their names posted on their school page on their birthdate; however, birthdate is not included on that member's individual personal page.

City Pages

Each city has a dedicated page. On this page is basic information such as the current time and weather, zip code, and county. There are also links to high schools and colleges in the city, past and present. Additionally there are sections for links to local organizations such as Kiwanis and Rotary and for local attractions. Members are encouraged to help build the content of these pages by submitting articles and links. Check it out!

People Search

Many people suggested we add a feature where one can attempt to locate another person even if they don't know their school and/or class. For this reason, we have included a people search box on the home page. You can type a first name and/or last name and get a list of everyone on the site meeting your criteria.

The Newsletter

A short newsletter that highlights recent additions and changes to the site is posted periodically. We send a reminder email with a link to this newsletter for those members that so choose.

Other Free Services

The site contains several other free features including a recipe database, and a place where historical articles about cities in the region can be posted. We are also open to suggestions for other types of features to be added in the future. All material submitted is reviewed for appropriateness. We reserve the right to refuse posting for any reason.

Advertising Your Business

One of the more recent features of the site is the business directory. The vision of this feature is to provide a free business look-up service for area businesses (like the yellow pages). Businesses may post basic information (name, address, phone number, type of business) about their business for free.

For a low fee of less than $7 per month, businesses may also also have the option to upgrade their page. Upgrading enables the business to get preferential listing on the site, the opportunity to link to their existing website, post images (such as menus, pictures of the business), and special offers. Business listings can be updated for free as often as one likes.

Real Estate

Another recent feature on the site is a real estate directory. Again, the vision is to provide an extremely low-cost means to advertise properties for sale. Realtors can list specific properties they are marketing and individuals can advertise their own real estate. Again, there is an input form to be completed and the site creates the page automatically. These listings can also contain a picture of the property.
